Arafura Sea Charters was established in 1998 as a Company servicing the commercial marine industry in the Northern Territory. The company has since expanded bringing together a number of Northern Territory businesses including North Australia Marine & Security Services (NAMSS), Gopu Marine and Arnhem Marine Consultants.

The company has a broad range of experience in wharf maintenance, vessel construction, salvage, charter, Defence support, aquaculture management, and marine security. The 3 Directors have more than 85 years combined experience in marine based industry.

Arafura Sea Charters through NAMSS is also a licensed, registered security company, we offer tailored security packages, specializing in marine based security services.

The Company operates from its base at Catalina beach, Nhulunbuy NT. From here we also carry out local community freight & passenger transfers specializing in shallow water access to remote areas

 The vessels, operate either independent or as units, servicing clients requirements along the North Australian Coast Line.

Barge Operations

Arafura Sea Charters has all tidal access to Melville Bay via the Catalina slipway and can be “on Station” at very short notice.

Ferrying Services

Arafura Sea Charters is endorsed by the local East Arnhem Land Council to provide commercial services to remote and island communities. No job is too big or too small.

Mooring Services

Our mooring blocks are solid concrete with a reinforced high grade steel re-enforcement bar and 32-50mm stud link chain sections. In addition to this, the pyramid shape with a bottom cavity that acts like a suction pad in the mud ensures a strong hold.
