Location
Nomad Charters offers you a unique Northern Territory Arnhem Land experience. We operate around the remote East Arnhem Land coastline from our base in the town of Nhulunbuy on the Gove Peninsula.
The Gove Peninsula and its surrounds have a huge and uniquely untapped potential for fishing enthusiasts and for those looking for a true remote area experience. Gove provides all who visit an unforgettable adventure in one of Australia's most exciting and pristine areas.
Tours
- We offer luxury 4WD small group tours and personalized private charters throughout the Gove Peninsula area.
- Visit the Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Art Centre and Museum in the community of Yirrkala and experience the art, culture and history of the local Yolngu people.
- Marvel the rugged pristine coastline with its pure white beaches and crystal waters
- Take a guided tour of the local area including the mining township of Nhulunbuy, Gove Harbour and local recreational clubs.
Fishing

Chill Out
- Visit our Banubanu Wilderness Retreat on Bremer Island. Fish or just chill out and enjoy the remote solitude, clear skies, turtles laying their eggs, bird watching or beachcombing and bright starry nights around the camp fire.
- The local Aboriginal people are welcoming to our guests and if requested a guided tour of hunting and gathering and country can be organized.
Day Charters
The beauty and excitement of Gove is that there is great fishing in Melville Bay itself, let alone in areas a little further away. We operate two types of day charter:
Half Day Fishing Charters
Depart Gove Harbour at 7am daily and return at 1pm.Calm weather – fishing Bonner Rocks, Cape Wilberforce and the Bromby Islets and Elizabeth Bay.
Average weather - fishing Bremer Island, Sykes Shoal, Veronica Island, Higginson Islet and Bremer Rock.
Full Day Fishing Charters
Depart Gove Harbour at 7am and return at 4pm daily.Fishing Bremer Island, Truant Island and the English Company Islands.
Sunset Cruises
Our sunset cruises depart at 5 pm and return at 7.30 pm.If you require a venue for a small social function come with us on our popular sunset cruises.
We cruise Gove Harbour and then anchor up behind Strath Island to enjoy the peace and quiet of a harbour setting.
Inclusions
We provide morning tea, light lunch, afternoon tea (full day), tea and coffee, soft drinks, bottled water, all tackle, bait and ice. On our Sunset Cruises we include fruit and cheese platters, ice, soft drinks, tea, coffee and cold water.
Alcoholic Beverages: We also provide ice and eskies (coolers, chilly bins, car fridges) on all of our charters for beer, wine and mixed drinks that you may wish bring along. Naturally, we do not encourage heavy drinking due to the hot weather and safety requirements.
Remote Islands Fishing Safari
Remote Islands
- Fly by charter plane from Gove to the remote Drysdale Island to meet up with MV Nomad and your guides.
- Camp on the beach, roam, fish and sightsee the many pristine islands within the Wessel and the English Company Islands group.
- Fish untouched grounds.
- Meet local Aboriginal people and get a true Arnhem Land experience.
- Return by boat to Nhulunbuy after three to five days.
Small Groups – An Adventurous Hands-On Experience
We specialise in small group, allowing for a personalized adventure trip for three to five people. There is no comparison with this true wilderness adventure exploring pristine islands and enjoying some of the world's best fishing locations. In the greater scheme of things, few people will ever be part of this experience.
Adventurous Types Required
These trips are definitely for the adventurous type - we camp on remote islands and at times brave the elements. There are no motels, department stores or restaurants. It’s all hands-on and everyone's help is required to ensure the success of the adventure.
For Adventurous Types who Enjoy Comfort and Style
Trevor has a new package available for those who like to adventure in some style and comfort using Nomad to fish Drysdale Island and living on board the Auriga Bay II, a luxurious 17.0 metre (56') steel hull vessel with 5 air conditioned guest cabins that all have double beds and a bunk, fully appointed galley, aft deck BBQ area, air conditioned salloon, hot water showers and flushing toilets.
There is also the option to go ashore and fish off beach and creek and sit around a campfire and BBQ before returning to the comfort of the mothership.
Inclusions
The packages include camping gear where appropriate, all meals, soft drinks, bait, tackle, ice, permits, air charter to Drysdale Island and transfers to and from the harbour.
