  • Arafura Dance Sign on Days for 2011

The Arafura Dance Association Committee and Teachers wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year. The main ADA Sign On Day will be on Saturday 22nd January 2011 from 2-5pm at the Surf Club. We will be having a second sign on Day for anyone that misses the first one; this will be on the Saturday 29th January 2011 outside the Qantas Office from 9am to 11am.

To enable students to dance in 2011 enrolment forms must be filled out and signed. Some classes have lots of students so we will need to know numbers, if you will not be around on those sign on dates and your child/children want to dance can you please email their name/s and class/es they were in, in 2010 and what they want to dance in, in 2011 so we can hold a place for them?

Dance Classes will commence on the week of the 24/1/2011. Finally a fond farewell and best wishes to all those ADA families and wonderful dancers who are leaving Gove, you will be missed! We hope you take many happy memories of ADA where ever you go.

  • Arafura Dance Rehearsals

Concert time is fast approaching. Rehearsals are at the Town Hall on Sunday 14th November and then on the Sunday 21st November a full dress rehearsal including makeup (up to parents for the younger dancers) as there will be photos taken on this day, as it’s really the easiest time to get photos of each dance group (no crowd, no quick changes for some dancers etc). Children can leave when they have completed all their dances for the rehearsal day.  This week’s rehearsal may be a good time to do costume checks and meet with Dance Costume Co-ordinators in the foyer, please remember that costumes can’t be handed over till they have been paid for as we don’t want our volunteer costume coordinator mums out of pocket, after all the great work they’ve done. I  The younger children’s time slots will be as follows: 1.00pm - 2.00pm - Tiny Tots/ PS Ballet/PS Ballet 2/PS Jazz/PS Tap (including the older girls helping), 2.00 - 2.15pm - Boys Rock,  2.30 onwards -  All other dancers

  • Arafura Dance Assoc. Sign on for Term 4 Dancing Tomorrow!

ADA Term 4 sign on will be on tomorrow.....Saturday 2nd October 9am -12 midday,  outside the Qantas office,  in Endeavour Square, in town. See you there!

  • Arafura Dance Association Update- Sign on, Concert, Exams etc....21/9/10

Just a reminder that the Term 4 sign on will be on Saturday 2nd October 9am to 12 midday, outside the Qantas office, in Endeavour Square. This years ADA Committee have decided after many comments from parents that each child will receive a trophy at the end of the year. As Arafura Dance Association is a non profit organisation it has been decided that the cost of the trophies that all children receive will need to be added to the Term 4 payment. We will ensure that it is a minimal payment, but a trophy the dancers will be proud to have.    The ADA concert will be held on 26th, 27th and 28th November at the Town Hall, Miss Rachael, Miss Sharlene and Miss Melissa will commence working on dances for the concert now that exams are over. Emma Clay one of the ADA volunteer Committee, will be contacting dancers and parents soon, as we will need parent Costume co-ordinators from each dance class to sort out the Costumes.    A big thankyou to Lesley, Miss Rachael, Miss Sharlene and Miss Melissa for all the hard work they have put in to get so many dancers ready and prepared to do their dance examination/s, also thanks go to the volunteer parents who gave up their Sunday and/or Monday, & took time off work to help with exams. The examiner from Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD), Ms. Dawson is a particularly well experienced examiner and conducts dance exams around Australia as well as in various countries around the world, so we were particularly lucky to get her for our first exams using the new dance syllabus. Ms. Dawson believes that the exam results, medals etc will take about 3 weeks to get to us. We will let you now when they arrive.
