2011 Census – Apply now to become an Area Supervisor!
The next national Census of Population and Housing will take place on 9 August 2011. The Census aims to accurately measure the number of people in Australia on Census night, their key characteristics and the dwellings in which they live.
To assist in the preparation and operation of the Census, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is currently recruiting over 3,500 Area Supervisors nationally.
Quality Area Supervisors are vital to the success of the Census and the ABS are looking for Area Supervisors that can connect and communicate with, and encourage participation from their communities.
Working on the Census is more than just a job. It is a great community activity that makes a real difference in helping to define who we are and what your local area will look like into the future. Data collected by the Census supports planning, decision-making and funding at all levels of government.
Area Supervisors are required to work from 18 April until 7 October 2011 and will be paid between $4,300 and $7,500 depending on their workload.
If you are interested in a flexible short term position and would enjoy managing your own workload and a team of Census Collectors, apply online www.abs.gov.au/census or call 1800 420 182.
Applications open 12 February and close on 4 March 2011.
