The Gove Yacht Club is now called the Gove Boat Club, returning to the clubs original name.

The Gove Boat Club is the sailor's gateway to the Northern Territory and Indonesia. The Club began in 1970 and the present clubhouse was opened in 1990 and is surrounded by palms and lush tropical vegetation. Visiting sailor's are always made welcome at the GYC and many extend their stay.

Gove Harbour is situated in Melville Bay on the North West tip of the Gulf of Carpentaria at latitude 12 degrees 11' and longitude 136 degrees 42'. The town of Nhulunbuy, population 4000 is 13km from the Yacht Club.

Radio Communications

YC monitors VHF Ch16 between 1130hrs and 2200hrs most days. Saturday's hours 1000 to 2200. The working channel is Ch 74. Gove Harbour monitors Ch 16 24 hours a day and can be contacted up to 40 nm. Seaphone channel for this area is Ch 28.
